     The Automobile Department was founded on February, 15, 1945. Department conducts educational process at Automobile Mechanic Faculty; Faculty of Transport and Information Technologies; Faculty of Economics, Management and Law, the Institute of Correspondence Education and Distance Learning , the Institute of Transport Economics and Business and the Institute of Pre-University Preparation and International Cooperation.

     In addition, the department organizes and supervises educational, design-engineering, research and pre-diploma practical work for the students of Automobile Mechanic Faculty and the Institute of Correspondence Education and Distance Learning.

     The department trains specialists in Wheeled and Crawler Vehicles (with a specialization in Automobile Industry). The lecturers supervise diploma projects and Master’s theses of students majoring in Automobiles and Automobile Industry as well as in Vocational Education: Teaching in the field of Local and Motor Transport Maintenance

     The key research interests of the department:

• improvement of tractive and speed characteristics, efficiency and fuel economy of vehicles and road trains;
• a theory of controllability and stability of vehicles and road trains;
• the methods of vehicles passableness estimation and its improvement;
• transport service efficiency in agricultural conditions due to the use of efficient types of vehicles and road trains with optimal structural parameters
• working out of scientifically grounded normative documents for the certification of road vehicles;
• efficiency of gaseous fuel in motor transport;
• reduction in vehicle noisiness.
