The Department of
Road Construction and Maintenance

Head of Department – Savenko Vyacheslav Yakovych, Doctor of Science in Technology, Professor, Honored Worker of Science and Technology of Ukraine, Honored Road Builder of Ukraine, the holder of the Excellence in Education of Ukraine badge, Academician of the Transport Academy of Ukraine, Academician of the Construction Academy of Ukraine, Academician of the Transport Academy of the Russian Federation, awarded the badge "For scientific achievements", was awarded the badge "For scientific achievements".

     The department was founded in 1944 when Kyiv Automobile and Highway Institute was formed by the Decree of the Council of the People's Commissars of the USSR No 11.06-r of November, 7, 1944. In 1952 it was united with the Department of Road Construction Materials. In 1956 the Department of Road Construction Mechanization (head - Professor D.A.Rudenko) and in 1976 the Department of Road Construction Materials (head - Professor G.K.Syunyi) were moved away from the Department.

     From 1944 to 1969 the Department was headed by Professor Kostyantyn Stepanovych Terenetskyy, Doctor of Science in Technology. From 1969 to 1976 it was headed by Professor Georgiy Kamillovych Syunyi, Doctor of Science in Technology. Professor Volodymyr Mykhaylovych Sidenko, Doctor of Science in Technology held the chair of the department from 1976 to 1985. Professor Volodymyr Yosypovych Zavorytskyy, Doctor of Science in Technology was Head of Department from 1986 to 1997. Professor Vyacheslav Yakovych Savenko, Doctor of Science in Technology has been holding the chair of the Department since 1997.

     The teaching and administrative staff of the department includes 19 academics, an assistant manager of the laboratory, 3 engineers and a senior laboratory assistant:

     Alenich Mykhailo Dmytrovych - Associate Professor, Candidate of Science in Technology, Honored Road Builder of Ukraine, the holder of the Excellence in Education of Ukraine badge, Senior Research Fellow.      Bondarenko Lyudmyla Petrivna - Associate Professor, Candidate of Science in Technology. Major courses: Modeling and Forecasting of Environmental Condition, Methods of Mathematical Modeling in Ecology, Land Reclamation, Road Construction Technology (special course).

     Bulah Oleksandr Ivanovych - Associate Professor, Candidate of Science in Technology, the holder of the Excellence in Education of Ukraine badge, Honored Worker of Education of Ukraine. Major course: Urban and Rural Road Construction and Maintenance.

     Kaskiv Volodymyr Ivanovych - Associate Professor, Candidate of Science in Technology. Major courses: Quarries and Quarrying Industry, Road Repair and Renovation.

     Kyzyma Stanislav Stepanovych – Professor, Candidate of Science in Technology, Honored Road Builder of Ukraine, the holder of the Excellence in Education of Ukraine badge. Major courses: Road Maintenance, Agro Technical Operations on Roads.

     Lysenko Oleksandr Petrovych - Associate Professor. Major course: Road Maintenance.

     Malko Maria Mykolayivna - Associate Professor, Candidate of Science in Technology. Major courses: Building Production Technology, Introduction to Building Business.

     Nagaychuk Vasyl Mykhailovych - Associate Professor, Candidate of Science in Technology. Major course: Maintenance of Means of Communication.

     Ostroverkhiy Oleg Grygorovych - Associate Professor, Candidate of Science in Technology. Major courses: Road Conditions and Traffic Safety, Road Repair and Renovation.

     Petrovych Volodymyr Vasylyovych - Professor, Candidate of Science in Technology, Senior Research Fellow, Corresponding Member of the Construction Academy of Ukraine, Honored Road Builder of Ukraine. Major courses: Manufacturing Base for Construction, Practical Problems of Road Construction.

     Slavinska Olena Sergiyivna - Doctor of Science in Technology, Professor, Acting Dean of Road Construction Faculty, the holder of the Excellence in Education of Ukraine badge. Major courses: Fundamentals of Road Construction Technology, Transport and Means of Communication; Construction and Maintenance of Engineering Networks.

     Usychenko Olena Yuriyivna - Associate Professor. Major courses: Fundamentals of Road Construction Technology, Meteorology and Climatology.

     Feschenko Anna Mykolayivna – Deputy Head of the Department, Associate Professor, Candidate of Science in Technology, Honored Road Builder of Ukraine. Major courses: Highway Construction Technology of Means of Communication, Building Production Technology.

     Karimova Lubov Mykhailivna – an assistant. Major courses: Building Production Technology, Road Construction Technology.

     Chechuga Oleksandr Sergiyovych – Associate Professor, Candidate of Science in Technology. Major courses: Fundamentals of Road Construction Technology, Construction and Maintenance of Engineering Networks.

     Yakymenko Yaroslav Mykolayovych – Associate Professor, Candidate of Science in Technology. Major course: Fundamentals of Road Construction Technology, Construction and Maintenance of Engineering Networks.

     Vasylenko Dmytro Anatoliyovych – an assistant manager of the laboratory.

     Lutska Vira Yuriyivna – a senior engineer.

     The staff of the department carries out the following work:

     The staff of the department teaches 34 subjects.

     The Department has well-equipped laboratories, including the training laboratory of road construction and maintenance, sectoral research laboratories of road quality and road subgrade reliability, a mobile laboratory (on the basis of UAZ-3303) to determine road maintenance parameters.

     Students have work placement and pre-diploma practice in road construction and maintenance organizations, as well as in the departments of State Traffic Police.

     The employees of the department are successfully engaged in the public work of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine Savenko V.Y. is a member of Expert Council of the Supreme Certifying Commission (VAK) of Ukraine, a member of two Theses Committees, a section leader of the scientific and methodological commission on construction of MES.

     Kaskiv V.I. is Scientific Secretary of the Theses Committee D. 26.059.02; a member of the expert committee on accreditation of educational institutions of MES of Ukraine in the area of construction.

     Petrovych V.V. is a secretary of the interdepartmental scientific and technical digest “Highways and Road Construction”; a member of the expert committee on accreditation of educational institutions of MES of Ukraine in the area of construction.

     Savenko V.Y., Kyzyma S.S., Nagaychuk V.M., Ostroverkhiy O.G. are members of the Scientific and Technical Committee of Ukravtodor. Kyzyma S.S. is a member of the Commission on information technology implementation in road industry.
