The head of the department – Gutarevych Yuriy Feodosiyovych, Doctor of Technical Sciences, professor, the honoured science and technology worker of Ukraine, laureate of the State Prize of Ukraine in science and technology, the academician of Transport Academy of Ukraine and Transport Academy of the Russian Federation. The author of more than 300 research works on internal combustion engines and motor transport exploitation, 10 of which are monographs, textbooks, and manuals. He teaches the following courses: «Internal combustion engines», «Transport ecology», «Thermotechnics». |
The Department of Engines and Heating Engineering was founded in 1962. Petro Ivanovych Andrusenko, Professor, Doctor of Technical Sciences, is the founder and the first head of the Department, who is an outstanding scientist in the field of engines, especially diesel fuel feed.
The work on department facilities started with its foundation. Preparation works resulted in the foundation of the engines and diesels fuel apparatus research laboratory. In 1966 five electric stands for engine tests and eight facilities for termotechnics laboratory works were installed. From 1975 to 1987 the head of the Department of Engines and Combustion Engineering was professor K.E. Dolganov. During this period material resources were developed. For training academic and teaching staff in 1962 the postgraduate program and in 1970 the doctoral program started. Six doctor and more than 50 candidate dissertations have been defended during the department’s lifetime. O.G.Maevskiy, K.E.Dolganov, Yu.F.Gutarevich, A.Z.Filippov – Head of Department at National Agricultural University, A.F.Golovchuk – the Rector of Uman State Agricultural University,( speciality «Motor transport and tractors),V.P.Mateychik - Head of the NTU Department of Ecology and safety of vital functions defended their doctoral dissertations in Heat Engineering. 22 persons who became there candidates of sciences (PhD in Sciences) work as lecturers of NTU.
Candidates of sciences from other countries have been trained by the deparment: Nguen Van Bat (V''etnam), I.K.Moneva (Bulgaria) and Z.Yu.Kolish (Poland).
Among the department graduates are O.D.Klimpush –ex-minister of Transport of Ukraine, Ambassador of Ukraine to Hungary, member of the VRU, Titov V.A. - the principal engineer of Kiev motorcycle plant, S.D. Antonyuk - prime contactor of Kiev motorcycle plant, A.M. Redzyuk – Director of State enterprise “ State Road Transport Research Institute”, Khafiz Serim Radzhab - the Minister for economy of Sultanate Oman.

Govorun Anatoliy Grigorovych - a full-time professor, candidate of technical sciences, . He teaches the following courses: « ICE construction and dynamics », «Internal combustion engines», «Theory of ICE», and is the author of 310 scientific and scientific-methodological works, among them 5 manuals / course books. The area of his professional interests includes the improvement of engines fuel economy and the reduction of harmful emissions in alternative fuel usage.
Redzyuk Anatoliy Mykhailovych – a part-time professor with 0.25 workload, candidate of technical sciences. He teaches the course «Fundamentals of Ecology».
Klympush Orest Dmytrovych – a part-time professor with 0.25workload, candidate of technical sciences. He teaches the course «Fundamentals of Ecology».
Dmytrenko Volodymyr Il'kovich is a full-time assistant professor, candidate of technical sciences. . The honored motor transport worker of Ukraine. He teaches the following courses: «Theoretical Fundamentals of Termotechnics», «Thermodynamics», «Motor-car engines»He is the author of more than 60 scientific and scientific-methodological works. The area of his professional interests includes the development of kinematics charts and test models of alternative engines.
Korpach Anatoliy Oleksandrovych is a full-time assistant professor, candidate of technical sciences. The exemplary education worker of Ukraine. He teaches the following courses: «Theoretical Fundamentals of Termotechnics», «Fundamentals of Ecology », «Testing of ICE», «Thermodynamics and thermal processes of welding». The author of more than 265 scientific and scientific-methodological works, among them 5 manuals / course books. The area of his professional interests includes fuel economy enhancement and the decrease of harmful emissions by using alternative fuels.
Lisoval Anatoliy Anatoliyovych is a full-time assistant professor, candidate of technical sciences, docent. He teaches the following courses: «Motor-car engines», «Gas dynamics and supercharge aggregates». The author of more than over 200 scientific and scientific-methodological works, among them 2 training manuals. The area of his professional interest: fuel feed systems of motor- tractor diesels and automatic control.
Kuhtik Victor Volodymyrovych is a full-time assistant professor, candidate of technical sciences. He teaches the following courses: «Motor-car engines», «Internal combustion engines», «Fundamentals of automatization design of engines”, «Automatic engines control», «Fundamentals of ecology», «History of engineering». The author of more than 50 scientific and scientific-methodological works.
Merzhyievs’ka Ljubov Pavlivna is a full-time assistant professor, candidate of technical sciences. The exemplary education worker of Ukraine.She teaches the following courses: «Fundamentals of Ecology », «Work processes features of untraditional heat-engines». She is the author of more then 100 scientific and scientific-methodological works, among them 3 training manuals. The area of her professional interest is transport ecology and alternative fuel types.
Orlov Victor Vasylyovych is a full-time assistant professor, candidate of technical sciences, academician of theTransport Academy of Ukraine, leader of the section of Motor transport of TAU.The author of more than 126 scientific and scientific-methodological works, 17 copyright certificates in industry of internal combustion engines and MGD-generators. He teaches the following courses: «Theoretical fundamentals of heating engineering», « Internal combustion engines ». The area of his professional interest includes the increase of fuel economy and the decrease of harmful emissions in alternative fuels usage through multifuel engines with thermo-chemical conversion of fuels.
Gumenchuk Mykhajlo Ivanovych is a full-time assistant professor, candidate of technical sciences. He teaches the following courses: «Theoretical fundamentals of heating engineering», «Basics of ecology», «Motor-car engines», « DVZ System ». The author of more than 20 scientific and scientific-methodological works.
Zhernoviy Anatoliy Serhijovych is a part-time assistant professor with 0.5 workload, candidate of technical sciences. He teaches the following courses: « Internal combustion engines », «Motor-car engines».
Zakharchenko Oleksij Mykolayovych is a part-time assistant professor with 0.5 workload, candidate of technical sciences. He teaches the following courses: «Fundamentals of ecology», «Theory of the technical systems», «Theoretical fundamentals of heating engineering». Special interest: improvement of fuel economy and ecological indexes of cars , rational uses of petrols with addition of bioethanol.

Special interest: perfection of the neutralization system of petrol engines.
Sel'skiy Mykhajlo Petrovych is an assistant. He teaches the following courses: «Fundamentals of ecology», « Internal combustion engines »,«Technical systems theory », «Motor-car engines». The author of 15 scientific works. Professional interest: the increase of diesel fuel economy with automatic control for unstable conditions.
Karev Stanislav Volodymyrovych is an assistant. He teaches the following courses: «Basics of ecology», «Motor-car engines», «Theoretical fundamentals of heating engineering», « Technical systems theory ».
Sirota Oleksandr Vadym0vych – a part-time assistant with 0.5 workload. He teaches the following courses: «Fundamentals of ecology», «Motor-car engines», «Theoretical fundamentals of heating engineering», « Technical systems theory ». Research interest: adjustment of fuel injected engines.
Pavlenko Vitalij Oleksijovych – a part-time assistant with 0.5 workload, of the laboratory of «Engines testing». He teaches the following courses: «Motor-car engines», «Transport power supply systems».
The educational process is supported by-support staff: the assistant manager of the laboratory V.O.Pavlenko, I category engineers – N.O.Kuhtik, N.V.Skidan, O.I.Sirota. The senior research fellow Z.I.Krasnokuts’ka and I category technical worker L.G.Fedotova .
There are full-time and part-time forms of postgraduate education at the department in the specialties: 05.05.03 – Engines and power installations, 05.22.20 - Transport facilities exploitation and repairing.
Since the foundation of the department the main scientific activity direction has been techno-economic indexes increasing of motor-car and tractor engines by creation and researching principally new feed systems and automatic control of these engines.
The results of scientific researches are widely published in monographs, textbooks, training manuals and articles. Among them:
