Head of department – Dmytrychenko Mykola Fedorovych, PhD in Technical Sciences, Professor, Rector of National Transport University, honoured worker of science and technology of Ukraine, corresponding members of the academy of pedagogical sciences of Ukraine, President of Transport Academy of Ukraine, Vise- President of International Tribological Council, Laureate of state prize of Ukraine in the field of science and technics, Laureate of Komsomol prize of Ukraine and scientific and technical Ukraininian council in field of science and technics, awarded the order of "Merit" ІІ and ІІІ degrees, author of over 300 scientific works in the field of Tribotechnic and machine science, including 25 monographies, study guides and textbooks, lector of triborechnic science and bases of reliability of cars.

     Posvyatenko Eduard Karpovych – Professor, Doctor of Science in Technology, Honored Worker of science and technology of Ukraine, author of more than 260 scientific works and methodology papers , among which there are 2 monographs, 1 manual and more than 50 copyright certificates and patents for inventions, major courses : principles of machine and mechanism elements surface engineering ; metal processing principles; tools and mechanisms for material processing; the welding processes theory ; engineering and facilities for wear resistant surfaces with the definite triboengineering specifications design.

     Levkivskiy Oleksandr Petrovych - Professor, Doctor of Science in Technology, author of more than 120 scientific works and methodology papers, among which there are 2 monographs, major courses: machine repair theory principles; engineering and facilities for machine parts renovation; internal combustion engine maintenance and repair

     Kovalyov Mykhailo Franzevych – Professor, PhD in Technical Sciences, Professor, Honor lecture in education of Ukraine, author of more then 70 scientific works and instructional researches, among which there are 3 manuals, 1 copyright certificates for an invention, lectore of interchangeability, standardization and technical measurements; standardization and quality of production.

     Shaposhnikov Borys Viktorovych - Professor, PhD in Technical Sciences, Docent, Laureate of state prize of Ukraine in the field of science and technics, the author of more then 180 scientific works and instructional researches, among which there are more then 80 copyright certificates and patents for inventions, 8 manuals, 1 textbook, lectore of physical, chemical and metallurgical bases of metals manufacture; welding by pressure; technology of mechanical engineering.

     Tokin Oleksandr Pavlovych - Professor, PhD in Technical Sciences, Docent, the author of more then 40 scientific works and instructional researches, lectore of technology of constructional materials; quality assurance of coverings, complex mechanisation of technological processes.

     Lodyakov Sergiy Ivanovych – Associate Professor, PhD in Technical Sciences, Docent, the author of more then 30 scientific works and instructional researches, lectore of technology of car repairs; welding by pressure.

     Rymarenko Ivan Kostyantynovych - Associate Professor, Docent, the author of more then 60 scientific works and instructional researches, lectore of repairs technology of car and road cars; bases of manufacturing science and repair of cars; renewal of details; technology of drawing up and testing of the restored knots and units.

     Barylovych Leonid Pavlovych - Associate Professor, PhD in Technical Sciences, Docent, honored transport worker of Ukraine, the author of more then 180 scientific works and instructional researches, among which there are more then 40 copyright certificates and patents for inventions, 1 textbook.

     Tkachuk Volodymyr Mykytovych - Associate Professor, PhD in Technical Sciences, Docent, the author of more then 100 scientific works and instructional researches, among which there are more then 20 copyright certificates and patents for inventions.

     Duleba Andriy Dmytrovych - Associate Professor, PhD in Technical Sciences, Docent, the author of 23 scientific works and instructional researches, among which there are 1 patents for invention, 2 textbooks, lectore of renewal of details; tractor and machine building technology; technological processes and hardening and restoration complexes.

     Savchuk Anatoliy Mykolayovych - Associate Professor, PhD in Technical Sciences, the author of 11 scientific researches, lectures: basic foundation of the workshops’ and sections’ engineering; strengthening and renewal.

     Rudenko Oleg Volodymyrovych - assistant of the department, the author of 5 scientific and instructional researches, lectures: technology of the cars’ and tractors’ repair.

     Kushch Oleksiy Ivanovych - assistant of the department, the author of 11 scientific and instructional researches, lectures: technology and fitting for the fusing.

     Koshelev Volodymyr Grygorovych - senior lecturer of the department, the author of 8 scientific and instructional researches, lectures: structural material technology, instruments and devices for material working; machine-building technology.

     Nikitin Valentyn Georgiyovych - assistant of the department, the author of 5 scientific and instructional researches, lectures: machine-building technology, structural material technology, physicochemical and metallurgical grounds of metals’ manufacture.

     The Department of the material manufacture, repair and science of the materials (till 2000 – the department of the repair manufacture and science of the materials - RMSM) was founded in the 1982 after the union of two departments: science of the materials (the initial name is the metals’ technology department) and manufacture and repair of the cars and road machines (MRCRM). These basic departments were founded during the creation of the Kyiv road-transport institute. During 1952-1980 docent Ivashchenko Mykola Illich (from 1970 – professor) was head of the MRCRM, in 1980-1982 – docent Revenko Oleksandr Dmytrovych , who was the head of the union department in 1982. In the period of department’s union doctor of the technical science Bobro Yuriy Georgiyovych was the head of the science of the materials department. From 1984 till January, 2003 the head of the department was doctor of the technical science, professor, Honored worker of Ukraine, Laureate of State price of Ukraine Kanarchuk Vadym Evgenovych. From February till August of 2003 the duties of the head of the department RMSM was professor Posviatenko Eduard Karpovych, and from the first of September, 2003 – Dmytrychenko Mykola Fedorovych.

Lectores of manufacture, repair and materials technology department 2005 year

     There are 39 lectures in the department: 33 lectures including 6 professors among which are 3 doctors of the technical science; 6 docents, 5 of them are the candidate of technical science. Two professors - Honored worker of the science and technique of Ukraine, three lectures - Laureate of State price of Ukraine, 8 – recipients of the awards “Honor lecture in education of Ukraine” . The average age of the workers is 46 years old, of the lectures – 47.2. The department provides with the specialist of “Technology and equipment of the renewal and increasing cars wear resistance and design" and has the right to conducting educational-professional work of preparation of bachelors, specialists and masters of fourth level at licence rate in number of 60 persons.

     On the department of Manufacture, Repair and Material science (further – MRM) there is study on 48 fundamental and professional-focused disciplines, among which: tribotechnic and bases of cars’ reliability, material science and thermal processing, technology of constructional materials, technology of mechanical engineering, processing of materials by cutting, interchangeability, standardization and technical measurements, bases engineering of cars details surface, welding by fusion and pressure, tools and devices for processing of metals, the theory of welding processes, welding power supplies, technology of car repairs and road cars, technology and equipment for fusing, repair and renewal of cars and devices, reliability of internal combustion engines, theoretical bases of cars repair, materials’ wear resistance, physical methods of studying of materials properties, physical, chemical and metallurgical bases of metals’ manufacture, covering quality assurance, technology of internal combustion engines manufacture, mathematical modelling of technological processes, etc.

     Research and educational activity of department MRM is correspond to the profile of preparation of experts and followes such basic scientific directions: manufacture, repair and renewal of automobiles; tribotechnic and cars reliability; materials science. There are doctorate and postgraduate study in the department. Dissertational works are performed based on science-research subjects of department. There is specialised academic council on defence of doctor's and master's theses in NTI D.26.059.03 (the head is professor Dmytrychenko M. F), where is the right to accept defence of the thesis with the speciality 05.22.20 - Operation and repair of automobiles and speciality 05.02.04 - the Friction and wear process in cars which correspond to the study research of department. All professors of department MRM are scientific supervisors of studies of post-graduate students and recipients of a scientific candidate's degree.

     Students take part in annual scientific conference of teachers and students NTU. In total on 66-67 conferences NTU has acted with reports 49 students.

     Results of employees’ scientific researches of department are used in educational process by introduction in disciplines "Tribotechnic and bases of cars’ reliability", "Technology of internal combustion engines manufacture", "Technology of cars’ repair", "Engineering of a cars details surface", "Renewal of details", etc. additions and new themes.

     The department has 10 instructional research laboratories: details renewal by the mechanical processing, thermal treatment and science of the materials, automatization of the welding and fusing processes, renewal and strengthening of the auto details, mechanical processing and science of the materials, that is specialized in the science of materials, auto details defectation, cars’ reliability, laboratory of the interchangeability, standardization and technical measurement, and there are also two scientific laboratories: tribotechnique, vacuum covering and the computer class.

     The results of the scientific and industrial researches that were carried out in the department, are published in the magazines, manuals and others specialized scientific editions of Ukraine and foreign counties, namely in the magazine “TRIBOLOGY INTERNATIONAL”, “Friction and wear”, “Systemic control methods, technology and organization of the manufacture, repair and exploitation of the cars ”, “Autoguide of Ukraine” , “Herald of the National transport university” etc. For the ultimate years more than 210 scientific articles were published, among them are 130 items of the methodical materials, manuals, textbooks, treatises.
