Department of Ecology and Safety of Vital Functions

Head of the Department - Mateichyk Vasil Petrovych, Doctor of Science in Technology, Professor, Dean of the Automobile Mechanic Faculty, Honored Employee of the National Education of Ukraine.

     Academic staff of the Department:
     One Professor, seven Associate Professors, four Senior Lecturers and three Assistants work at the Department.

Barabash Olena Vasylivna is an Associate Professor, Candidate of Sciences in Biology, focuses on environmental standards and certification, environmental management and auditing, environmental law.

Gusyev Gennadiy Feliksovych is an Associate Professor, Candidate of Sciences in Medicine, safety of vital functions and human ecology are among his scientific interests.

Kobzysta Oksana Petrivna is an Associate Professor, Candidate of Sciences in Biology with her key research interests being: environmental safety, environmental monitoring, foundations of occupational safety.

Suslo Stepan Tytovych is an Associate Professor, Academician of the International Academy of Vital Functions, Scientific Secretary of the Scientific and Methodological Commission on life safety of SMC of Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine. The introduction of modern methods of situation evaluation in case of emergency of industrial, natural or ecological nature is his key research interest.

Polovko Mykola Vasylyovych is an Associate Professor, Candidate of Sciences in Technology, focuses on occupational safety and safety of vital functions.

Haramda Gennadiy Myhailovych is an Associate Professor, focuses on safety of vital functions, civil protection and occupational safety.

Chuvayev Petro Ivanovych is an Associate Professor, the Director of Local Civil Defense Organization, focuses on civil protection.

Hor’kova Galyna Vasylivna is a Senior Lecturer dealing with safety of vital functions and occupational safety.

Shestakov Yevgen Anatoliyovych is a Senior Lecturer dealing with safety of vital functions and civil defense.

Kryukovska Lesya Ivanivna is a Senior Lecturer, works on ecology, environmental protection, environmental economics, and justification for the use of alternative materials in road construction.

Grynchuk Volodymyr Sergiyovych is a Senior Lecturer dealing with safety of vital functions and occupational safety.

Kuhtyk Natalia Oleksandrivna is an Assistant, teaches Ecology, Sustainable Development Strategy and Conservation Management; her key research interests are state of the environment and problems of alternative transport fuels use.

Palchyk Tetyana Mykolayivna is an Assistant, focuses on safety of vital functions and occupational safety.

Parasochka Alina Pavlivna is an Assistant dealing with the regulation of anthropogenic load on the environment and conservation management.

Samoylenko Ivan Viktorovych is an Assistant, safety of vital functions, ecology and sustainable development strategy are among his scientific interests.

     Engineering and technical personnel of the Department:

Kolomiyets Sergiy Valeriyovych is a Laboratory Assistant Manager, focuses on environmentally friendly production and technology.

Moshko Maksym Sergiyovych is an Assistant Manager of computer-multimedia class, responsible for its material provision.

Lysak Roksolana Stanislavivna is an Engineer at the Department, provides communication of the Department with other subdivisions of the University.

Zyuzyun Vadym Igorovych is an Engineer at the Department, responsible for technical provision in the laboratories of foundations of occupational safety, civil defense and safety of vital functions.

The department offers Bachelors programme in 6.040106 Ecology, Environmental Protection and Sustainable Use of Nature, as well as Specialists and Masters programmes allowing them to major in 7.070801 and 8.070801 Ecology and Environmental Protection.

As of September 20, 2011 156 students are being trained at the Department. In 2011/2012 academic year 30 first-year students were enrolled to the Department.

Hrut’ba V.O. is a Doctoral candidate, waste management projects in road-transport complex is her key scientific interest.

Nykonovych S.O. is a postgraduate, focuses on increasing environmental safety of vehicles in traffic flows.

Savenok D.V. is a postgraduate, deals with justification for the choice of power plants for the small class cars with increased flotation ability.

Merzhyyevska V.V. is a postgraduate, works on improving the environmental performance of vehicles using the systems of neutralization of exhaust gases.

Levkivskiy S.A. is an applicant, focuses on the effectiveness of neutralization systems of exhaust gases of cars in operation.

Sinkevych A.B. is an applicant dealing with the issues related to improving effective and ecological indicators of internal combustion engines.

Kolosovskiy O.M. is an applicant, works on methods of waste management projects for alternative fuels.

Gorid’ko N.M. is an applicant, the effectiveness of environmental management systems is her key research interest.

Ploshay F.V. is an applicant, works on the use of coal mine methane as an alternative fuel.

Kolomiyets S.V. is an applicant, deals with increasing environmental safety of vehicles on life cycle stages.

Together with the Department a workshop on “The implementation of environmental management system at enterprises of road-transport complex in order to reduce the negative environmental impact of transport” was held on 8 of June, 2010 as well as a scientific conference on “Improvement of cars and machines performance” (on 9-12 of June, 2011, Kyiv).

During 2008/2009 academic year basic documents and procedures for the implementation of EMS in the University were developed by the Department staff.

In June, 2009 all employees of the Department were trained on environmental management at the Institute of Transport Economics and Business. 13 employees of the Department received Internal Auditor Certificates.

In September, 2009 the University was certified to the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System Standard.

In September, 2010 a supervisory audit of Environmental Management System of the University was carried out which confirmed that Environmental Management System functions and improves in accordance with the stated environmental programme.

In May, 2011 the teaching staff of the Department was trained and certified on occupational safety and safety of vital functions.
