Carpathian Mountains for tourists

      Ukrainian Carpathian Mountains is a pearl of our country, wonderful picturesque region, the favourite place of rest and health improvement for people of different generations, tourist Mecca. The Carpathians are situated partly in the Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Chernivtsy and Transcarpathian regions. The highest peak of the Ukrainian Carpathians and Ukraine is Goverla (2061m).

      The Ukrainian Carpathians have 6 peaks, which are higher than 2000 metres. All these so-called “two thousand meter mountains” belong to Chornogora mountain range, that lies between Ivano-Frankivsk and Transcarpathian regions and these peaks are: Goverla – 2061 m

      It must be mentioned that there are a lot of other mountains which are of lower height, but still attractive and which are subjugated by tourists of different age. Such mountains as Pip Ivan Marmaroshsky (1936m), Syvulya (1818m), Dovbushanka (1754m), Stiy (1677m) and many others can be listed.

      In general, the aim of creating the web-site “Mountainous Tourism” is:
1. to motivate students and employees of the University to have active rest in the Carpathians as well as to get acquainted with this unique region and to learn its rich culture and interesting history.
2. to establish a non-formal tourist centre at National Transport University which all people who are interested in tourism would join. The centre would help all its members (students and employees) spend their holidays in the Carpathians and organize group tours.
