Major: Automobile Transport
with an emphasis in Automobiles and Automobile Industry
During the whole period of its historic development the automobile transport industry has always needed qualified specialists. For this reason since its foundation in 1944 Kyiv Automobile and Highway Institute, nowadays being National Transport University, has trained more than 5000 qualified mechanical engineers in Automobiles and Automobile Industry. They have been employed successfully in the motor transport complex and other branches of industry as well as agriculture of Ukraine and other countries.
The Department of Manufacturing Systems and Service in Transport graduates specialists in Automobiles and Automobile Industry. Most lecturers of the department are Doctors of Science and Candidates of Science, almost all of them hold academic titles of professors and associate professors. For many years the department has been conducting scientific research in the field of development and improvement of methods and technical service of high quality. A lot of graduates follow their studies at the post-graduate and doctoral department; defend their Candidate's dissertations and later Doctoral theses.
The curricula comprise a set of disciplines, which provide fundamental knowledge and professional training, facilitate personal development of students. Future specialists study automobile operation and maintenance, automobiles, car engines, vehicles technical maintenance, principles of technical diagnostics, operating supplies, road transportation and traffic safety, authorized maintenance of motor vehicles, principles of automobile manufacturing and repair technologies.
The graduates are specialists in varied specialist areas, trained for independent engineering, research, administrative and organizational activities in the field of automobile transport operation, vehicles technical maintenance and repair, in particular.
All the graduates have a wide range of opportunities for employment at state-owned and privately-owned transport enterprises, car service and repair stations, at scientific and research, project designing organizations, secondary and higher educational establishments. Major: Machine Building
with an emphasis in Lifting-Transport, Building, Road, Meliorative Machines and Equipment
This specialism was introduced at National Transport University (former Kyiv Automobile and Highway Institute) in November 1944.
The graduates of the previous years work in numerous fields: at the factories producing all kinds of surface vehicles, construction, land-reclamation, lifting machines and equipment; at research and project designing organizations, where new models of such equipment are designed; at the enterprises of machines and equipment maintenance and repair, at the Road Police of Ukraine; at higher educational establishments of various levels of accreditation; at companies selling the above-mentioned equipment and providing its maintenance. They can occupy the positions of directors (CEOs) of machine-building plants, road-construction enterprises, chief engineers, chief mechanics, design engineers, technologists, road machines operators, managers, lecturers etc. A lot of specialists from abroad (e.g. from Vietnam, Syria, Bulgaria, Hungary etc.) have already been trained in this specialism.
The students take courses in the following areas of study: Sciences, Humanities, Social Science and Economics and core courses in the Major: Strength of Materials, Descriptive Geometry, Engineering and Computer Graphics, machinery Parts, Electrical Engineering, Business Economics, Machinery and its Quality, Principles of Design Automation, Machinery for Earthworks, Lifting and Road Construction Machines; Machinery Operation and Testing; Internal Combustion Engines etc.
Besides, the students get the knowledge of modern theory and practice of management, principles of management, commercial and entrepreneurial activities; obtain computer operating skills, and skills of road machines control. The department has a testing ground for road construction machines testing and conducting laboratory and practical classes.
The department of Road construction machines trains specialists in Lifting-Transport, Building, Road, Meliorative Machines and Equipment. The department carries out research, which has resulted in design and implementation of unique excavation machines into production, quick overhaul of pipelines in particular. The students have an opportunity to broaden their knowledge by being engaged in research work at the laboratories of the university departments and undertaking practical training at the factories and research institutes. In accordance with their professional preferences the students may choose the following fields for their diploma project and Master theses: road construction machines; lifting machines; internal combustion engines; excavation machines; building materials enterprises; highways repair and maintenance machines; road machinery repair; road machines maintenance.

Major: Machine Building
with an emphasis in Internal Combustion Engines
Internal combustion engines are the main sources of energy for automobiles, construction, road, agricultural machines and other transport and stationary vehicles.
The university graduates in the specialism: Internal Combustion Engines become specialists in internal combustion engines operation, research and testing. They can be employed at motor transport enterprises with various forms of ownership, car repair plants, service stations, automobile and tractor plants, agricultural engineering, road construction machinery plants, diagnostic centers, enterprises engaged in design, testing and repair of cars and engines, companies selling motor vehicles, transport research organizations. They can occupy the positions of a test engineer, a research engineer, a construction engineer, an operations engineer (car and engines maintenance). These specialists have been trained at National Transport University since 1995 (the students first graduated in 2000).
The Department of Engines and Heating Engineering graduates specialists in Internal Combustion Engines. All the lecturers of the department are Doctors of Science and Candidates of Science. The scientific school in car engines and petrolift construction, as well as improvement of their performance was formed in the department in 1962.Over this period of time more than 6 Doctors of Science and 60 Candidates of Science have defended their dissertations. Currently the department’s key research interests are: motor transport ecological safety, alternative fuels and development of alternative fuel engines.
Well quality professional training is ensured by studying such disciplines as: Car Maintenance and Operation; the Theory of Internal Combustion Engines; Internal Combustion Engines Construction and Dynamics; Internal Combustion Engines Systems; Technology of Internal Combustion Engines Repair; Gas Dynamics and Pressurization Units; Internal Combustion Engines Automatic Control; Internal Combustion Engines Testing; Principles of Engine Design Automation; Internal Combustion Engines Reliability; Engines Manufacturing Engineering; Unconventional Heat Engines and their Operational Characteristics.

Major: Road Vehicle Construction
with an emphasis in Wheeled and Caterpillar Vehicles
Road Vehicle Construction is one of the most important branches of the industry of every developed country. It facilitates metallurgy, foundry, steel-rolling, rubber, chemical, machine tool construction, electronic, electrical industries, highway construction as well. Road Vehicle Construction in Ukraine has long history and great experience and recently it has been developing successfully in spite of all economic difficulties. Nowadays and in the future the specialists with up-to-date level of training in Road Vehicle Construction are necessary to favourable development of this branch. Such specialists are involved in research, testing, project, construction, production, technical and administrative activities. For this reason National Transport University started to train specialists in Road Vehicle Construction. First students graduated in 2000.
The Department of Automobiles graduates specialists in Wheeled and Caterpillar Vehicles. The department is one of the oldest departments at our university. All the lecturers are Doctors of Science and Candidates of Science. The scientific schools of the department, with their key research areas being vehicle passableness and specialized road transport vehicles, are leading schools not only in Ukraine, but also in the CIS.
The students take courses in the following areas of study: Sciences, Humanities, Social Science and Economics and core courses in the Major which provide them with a scientific and engineering background, broad erudition and culture development with self-improvement. Much attention is paid to computer software applications in design process. The practical training of students involves collaboration with industry, with the opportunity to get professional skills in engineering. All students are engaged into research.
The graduates are prepared to work at the enterprises and organizations dealing with research, design, production, operation, repair, selling of road vehicles and their carrying units, other vehicles and machinery, their devices and aggregates. They can also work at educational establishments.
All alumni of the university are specialists in Road Vehicle Construction. They can occupy the positions of a construction engineer (at automobile plants, design organizations), a mechanical engineer (at motor transport enterprises), an insurance company expert, a technical school teacher, a personal assistant, a service station manager etc. Besides, the best graduates can pursue their studies at post-graduate and doctoral department.
Major: Welding
with an emphasis in Renovation and Upgrading of Machines and Constructions Wear Resistance Engineering and Facilities
Modern transport vehicles, especially automobiles, have to meet a wide range of operational, aesthetic, economic, technological and other requirements which comply with quality requirements for a vehicle and all its devices, units and separate parts in particular. These indices, in their turn, depend on surface properties of components, which are taken into account in the process of manufacturing, repair and renovation of the transport vehicles. Because of an acute need for specialists in renovation and durability increase of machines and structures National Transport University has been training specialists for machine building and car repair industries. The Department of Manufacturing, Repair and Materials Engineering is the leading and graduating one for them. The teaching staff of the department is renowned in the field of repair, materials engineering, durability technologies, cars and internal combustion engines production not only in Ukraine, but also abroad. All lecturers of the department have academic degrees of Doctors of Science and Candidates of Science, academic titles of professors and associate professors. The students are given a broad overview of the subjects covering general technical (fundamental) disciplines, such as Mathematics, Drawing, Physics, Chemistry, Materials Engineering, Humanities and the Majors: l Surface Engineering, Welding, Repair, Durability and Computer Technologies, Economics and Production Management and other relevant disciplines. The course provides students with the skills they will need throughout their professional career, so that they will always be in great demand for employers in all the major industrial and commercial sectors. The university graduates in Renovation and Upgrading of Machines and Constructions Wear Resistance Engineering and Facilities are profoundly trained for work at motor-and-tractor, car repair enterprises and firms in the road vehicle construction, at research and educational establishments. They are able to design processes and equipment according to their specialism and also to carry out research. The alumni of the last three years have been working in the specialism, occupying the positions of manufacturing design engineers at car repair and motor transport enterprises, teachers at educational establishments with the second level of accreditation, service stations managers and other positions, which meet the qualification's requirements.
Major: Vocational Education Teaching
with an emphasis in Vocational Education Teaching in the field of Maintenance and Repair of Local and Motor Transport
To teach general technical and specialized disciplines the system of vocational education and higher educational establishments of I and II levels of accreditation requires teachers, who perfectly know the content of education and have mastered the principles and methods of academic and educational work. So there is a need for the teachers, who have acquired complex engineering (in a particular field) and pedagogical education.
In 2003 National Transport University started the training of such specialists for teaching activities in the system of vocational education at the higher educational establishments of I and II levels of accreditation and also for engineering, administrative, organizational activities in the field of motor transport operation.
Disciplines specified in the academic curricula will ensure professional engineering and pedagogical training.
The graduates have an opportunity to be employed at technical schools, technical colleges and lyceums, occupying the position of a teacher of the general technical and specialized disciplines of car operation, car repair and machine building profile, a director of a vocational educational establishment, a deputy director of studies and pedagogical work; providing in-service training for employees of vocational education (supervisor of vocational training). Also the alumni can work as teachers of general technical, psycho-pedagogical, methodological and specialized disciplines and assistant administrators. The graduates can be employed at motor transport, car repair and service enterprises occupying the positions of a chief engineer, a head of the technical department, a mechanical engineer, a manufacturing design engineer, a road transport operation engineer. Also they can occupy the position of a teacher (an instructor) in professional training, a social teacher in the departments of technical education.
Major: Ecology, Environmental Protection and Sustainable Use of Nature
with an emphasis in Ecology and Environmental Protection
The road-transport complex is one of the major pollutants of the environment. Nowadays it requires qualified specialists in the field of ecology, who could successfully accomplish complex tasks aimed at reduction of negative impact on the environment of a separate automobile, a motor transport enterprise, a road section and the motor transport industry in general.
Since 2003 National Transport University has been training specialists in ecology for the motor transport complex of Ukraine. The graduating department is the Department of Ecology and Safety of Vital Functions, the lecturers of which have considerable scientific and practical experience in the fields of ecology and safety of vital functions.
Professional training of the students is based on studying specialized disciplines in a number of fields, including ecologic aspects of the manufacturing, repair, engine and cars operation, construction and maintenance of the highways and other transport buildings, functioning of the motor transport enterprises and public road system. The course includes techniques and methods of control, modeling, environment prediction, environmental management and environmental economics, methods of environmental protection, waste disposal and recycling.
Students take modules in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Computer and Engineering Graphics; obtain computer skills to solve ecologic problems. Preparation of students for their practical activities is provided by the laboratories of general ecology, engines, car technical maintenance and repair, fuel and lubrication materials, highways, road-building materials which have a wide range of modern devices and equipment, allowing to measure the level of toxic, acoustic, vibration, heat and radioactive pollution of the environment under the influence of various factors, connected with road-transport functioning.
After graduation from the university the specialists work at the enterprises and organizations of road-transport industry, research institutes, establishments of the Ministry of Transport and Communications of Ukraine, the Ministry of Ecology of Ukraine and other ministries. If they want they may also be employed by other ecologic establishments, occupying the positions of ecologists-experts, ecologists-auditors, ecologists-inspectors etc., work as the teachers of the ecologic disciplines. The most gifted alumni have an opportunity to pursue postgraduate degrees.
Major: Design
The word design is translated from English as an external view, fulfillment. In modern conditions of fierce competition innovative and elegant product design could become a considerable advantage of any product. Design is also understood as a project artistic and technical activity aimed at designing industrial goods on the principles of convenience, cost effectiveness and beauty. Industrial design is a wonderful opportunity to create unique goods with high consumer properties and aesthetic qualities and open the way to the success of goods of various designation and origin.
An industrial designer is a specialist working in the field of industrial design, who ensures goods aesthetic perception by consumers; compliance of products visual properties with the company’s corporate identity; safe, simple and intuitively clear usage of the product; high level of the product assembling technology and its further maintenance; cost reduction in the goods production.
The analysis of job market shows that the demand for industrial designers is higher than their supply.
Design is the most important factor of the commercial success in the automobile industry and transport machine building.
Fulfillment of industrial design works requires special knowledge and skills. At National Transport University the future specialists in design take courses in the following areas of study: Sciences, Humanities, Social Science and Economics and core courses in the Major: Drawing, Academic Painting, Chromatics, Descriptive Geometry, Perspective and Shadow Projections, Patenting, Surface Anatomy, Principles of Forming, Basics of Project Graphics, Engineering Graphics, Materials Engineering, Design, Principles of Graphic Design, Principles of CAD, Modeling, Ergonomics, Applied Mechanics, Principles of the Design Techniques, Principles of Composition, Sculpture. The Department of Automobiles trains specialists in Design.
Using artistic-designing, scientific and technical approaches graduates are prepared to solve all tasks of industrial design: development of the product concept; 2D and 3D visualization and sketching, construction, solid state modeling, working out of the construction documentation, models and prototypes construction and determination of competitive advantages of the product as well.
A specialist will be able to realize his professional opportunities in different branches of Ukrainian and foreign industry, working at production enterprises, design engineering departments, design organizations with different forms of ownership or being engaged in private practice. Ukrainian machine building enterprises need specialists in industrial design, especially in the fields of road vehicle construction, automobiles tuning and re-equipment. It is testified by close collaboration of National Transport University with such organizations as the state-owned enterprise “DerzhavtotransNDIproekt”, corporation “Ukravto”, a group of companies “NIKO”, the company “Eurocar”, the company “RENAULT Ukraine”, for which the university trains specialists in road vehicle construction and which ask the University to train specialists in the field of automobile design.

Випускові кафедри – “Будівництво і експлуатація доріг” та “Проектування доріг”.
Навчальні практики студенти проходять на базі спортивно-оздоровчого табору університету, розташованого в мальовничому урочищі р. Козинки в с. Плюти. Базами виробничих практик студентів є будівельні та дорожньо-експлуатаційні організації всіх областей України, проектні та науково-дослідні інститути, в яких є можливість ознайомитися з прогресивними формами організації дорожньо-будівельних і експлуатаційних робіт та управління ними.
Бажаючі студенти можуть займатися під керівництвом академіків, професорів, доцентів науковою роботою, виступати на щорічних конференціях професорсько-викладацького складу і студентів університету і у такий спосіб поглибити свої знання в області транспортного будівництва.

Highways are arteries of the country. The state of its economy depends on their reliable functioning. For this reason the specialism of Highways and Airfields is and has always been very important for our country.
In November 1944 the training of the specialists in this field started at Kyiv Automobile and Highway Institute, nowadays being National Transport University.

The students study Mathematics, Physics, Theoretical and Structural Mechanics, Building Constructions, Engineering Surveying, Computer Graphics, Principles of Ecology, Sociology, Principles of Law, Highway Survey Methods, Computer-Aided Design of Transport Constructions on the Basis of Aerial Photography Materials, Methods of Testing, Diagnostics and Road State Estimation, Road Safety Methods, Road Building Materials; Technology, Organization and Mechanization of Construction, Reconstruction, Repair and Maintenance of Highways and Road Structures; and also, Economics and Organization of Production, Marketing, Management and Principles of Accounting. The graduating departments are the departments of Road Construction Maintenance and Road Design.
The students have their practical training at the sports and health camp of the university in the village Pluty. The bases for manufacturing practice of the students are construction and road-exploitation organizations in all the regions of Ukraine, design and research institutes, which give an opportunity to get the knowledge of progressive forms of road construction and maintenance and their management.
Students may do research under the guidance of academicians, professors, associate professors, take part in annual scientific conferences of the teaching staff and students of the university and in such a way broaden their knowledge in the field of transport construction.
Highways and Airfields
with a specialization in Airfields Construction and Maintenance
Air transport is an important part of the road-transport complex of Ukraine. Aviation cannot exist without efficiently functioning airfields – land plots with buildings, constructions and equipment located on them, designated for takeoff, landing, taxiing and parking of the aircrafts. The fact that on the territory of Ukraine there are 35 airfields proves that it is necessary to have a sufficient amount of specialists in the field of design, construction, maintenance and repair of the airfields. To satisfy current and future needs of our state in the specialists in given field National Transport University in 2003 initiated enrolment of the students for the specialism of Highways and Airfields with specialization in Airfields Construction and Maintenance.
The alumni in this specialism are multifunctional specialists who may be involved in independent engineering, research, administrative and organizational activities in the field of transport construction. They are able to work in the field of survey, design, construction and maintenance of airfields, highways and approach roads to the airports.
The graduating department for this specialism is the Department of Airports, all the lecturers of which are Doctors of Science and Candidates of Science who have considerable experience of teaching, manufacturing and scientific activities in the given field.
Disciplines, which are studied by the students beginning from the introduction to the specialism till diploma projects fulfillment (for instance, Transport Geography, Overall Planning of Airfields, Mechanization and Automation of Production Processes at Airports, Electric and Lighting Facilities at Airports etc.) ensure training and attestation of specialists who are able to solve almost all the tasks emerging in the process of designing, construction, maintenance and reconstruction of airfields, their buildings and facilities.
Major: Construction
with an emphasis in Bridges and Transport Tunnels
The construction of bridges, transport tunnels and underground systems is very important for creation of the transport network of the country as a whole and the big city networks in particular. National Transport University (Kyiv Automobile and Highway Institute) has been preparing specialists in specialism of Bridges and Transport Tunnels for more than 50 years. Bridge engineers first graduated in 1948. The majority of senior managers of the branch in Ukraine and in the CIS countries are the alumni of our university.
The graduating department for this specialism is the Department of Bridges and Tunnels. Almost all the lecturers of the department have academic ranks and degrees, among them there are 6 professors and Doctors of Science. Scientific schools created at this department are leading ones in Ukraine and are well-known beyond its borders.
The level of training of the specialists meets modern requirements. The disciplines, studied by the students help prepare not only well qualified specialists, but also educated and cultivated people. Proper attention is paid to mastering and usage of computer technologies in the design and management of bridge and tunnel construction. The students get the knowledge of modern standards of transport buildings design and construction; construction economics; participate in scientific activities of the department.
The specialists in Bridges and Tunnels are prepared to solve all the problems, connected with design, construction, maintenance, repair and reconstruction of transport buildings and can work at the enterprises and organizations, dealing with engineering and technical survey of bridge crossings and tunnel crossings; design of structures; building, repair, reconstruction and maintenance; inspection and testing of the transport constructions. They can also do research in corresponding areas.
After graduation from the university a specialist can occupy initial positions of an engineer at a plant, a research laboratory or a surveying group; a geodesist, a surveyor, a hydrometrist, a design-and-planning engineer at design, engineering, consulting organizations, a production line supervisor of building, maintenance and reconstruction of transport constructions, an engineer at the production and technical departments of transport construction and maintenance organizations, a production design engineer, a quality control inspector, a marketing assistant, an advertising agent at the marketing and investment organizations with a transport profile, a teacher at the vocational and higher educational establishments with I and II levels of accreditation.

with an emphasis in Technology of Building Constructions, Products and Materials
with a specialization in Technology of Road Building Materials, Products and Constructions
It is not possible to solve urgent problems of Ukrainian transport complex without specialists in Technology of Road building Materials, Products and Constructions, who can professionally introduce modern materials and cutting edge technologies. National Transport University is the only higher educational establishment in Ukraine and in the CIS countries training the specialists in this field. The graduating department is the Department of Road Building Materials and Chemistry.
Students take courses in the following areas of study: Sciences, Humanities, Social Science and Economics and core courses in the Major: Building Materials Science, Metrology and Standardization, Automation of the Building Industry Production Processes, Building Materials Engineering etc. Much attention is paid to the foreign languages, principals of ecology, research methods, and information technologies: this knowledge is necessary nowadays to become a well-qualified professional.
Students are offered an opportunity to be trained vocationally as a house painter, a tiller, an assistant of a building laboratory, a computer operator etc.
Practical training of the students is conducted on the basis of the health and sports camp of the university in the village Pluty, where the students also have an opportunity to rest. As for manufacturing practice, it is held at the best enterprises of building industry, at the research institutes of Ukraine, the CIS and other foreign countries.
Students can broaden the knowledge, taking part in seminars, conferences, research work under the guidance of skilled specialists.
The graduates of the university are prepared to work in laboratories, supply departments, supervisory organs, as well as in the positions of technologists, marketing assistants, quality control inspectors, engineers at the production and technical departments of building materials and structures enterprises or at transport design, construction and maintenance enterprises. The most gifted graduates have an opportunity to pursue postgraduate degrees.
Major: Geodesy, Cartography and Land Management
Construction is ongoing on whole territory of our state. Geodesists take part in construction of roads, bridges, underground, civil and industrial building, and land management works. Any new building begins exactly with geodesic works.
The profession of geodesist requires accuracy, spatial and mathematical thinking. The use of the automated methods of work has changed traditional geodesic technology. Nowadays it is computerized, hi-tech industry which is closely associated with the geo information systems. In 2009, there was the first enrolment for the Major: Geodesy, Cartography and Land Management to prepare specialists, capable to perform professional tasks.
The curricula meet modern requirements. Students study such subjects as Mathematical Methods and Models, Information Technologies and Programming, Higher Geodesy, Satellite Geodesy, Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing, GPS-technologies, Principles of Land Management and Cadastre.
Graduates will be prepared to solve all problems, related to designing and building of a transport network, civil and industrial complex.
After graduating from the university a specialist will be able to accomplish such professional work:
- surveying with map and plan drawing;
- conduct of cadastral surveys;
- cartographic works and geographic data collection, including aero photography and aero surveying;
- industrial and constructional surveying;
- transport network surveying;
- land and real estate monitoring, economy and legal evaluation.
All graduates will have ample employment opportunities both in the project institutes and on construction sites in the positions of an engineer-geodesist; aerophotosurveying geodesist.
Major: Transport Technologies (Road transport)
with an emphasis in Transportation and Road Transport Management
Passengers and freight transportation is crucial activity in transport.
Nowadays it requires qualified specialists in the field of transport technologies, who are ready to successfully and independently accomplish complex tasks of engineering, research and organizational work aimed at efficient organization and control of transport processes, control systems and their improvement in the framework of technological progress.
Over many years the University has been training such specialists in Transportation and Road Transport Management.
The graduating department is the Department of Transport technologies. Scientific schools of the department of transport technologies have been widely recognized in the CIS countries.
Students take courses in the following areas of study: Sciences, Humanities, Social Science and Economics and core courses in the Major: Principles of Ecology, Logistics, Freight Forwarding, Transport Law, Transportation Economics, Informational Technologies and Transportation Management. Nowadays the necessity in specialists who organize customs control in transport is dramatically growing. Since 1998 the University has prepared specialists in Customs Control in Transportation. Basic field of their professional activity is rational organization and management of road freight and passenger transportations at customs offices.
Students acquire the necessary special knowledge, studying principals of external economic relations, commercial work in transport, forwarding operations, customs operations, economic relations and foreign economic activity, international transportation economy, the adjustment of customs tariff, merchandizing and examination in customs business, customs statistics, customs code of practice, transport tariffs, transport law.
As a result the graduates in this specialization get additional training, which gives them possibility to work at transport customs houses, freight and passenger stations, in companies which are engaged in organization and realization of international road transportations, in the systems of terminals and transport departments of enterprises.

Traffic engineering is crucial for motor transport functioning. For this reason the University has prepared specialists in Traffic Engineering and Control for a long time. Their professional work consists mainly of effective organization and control of transport processes. The graduating department is the Department of Transport Systems and Road Safety.

Students have work placement in different departments of State Traffic Police during which they study the existing progressive methods of road traffic regulation and control.
Students can do research under the supervision of professors who teach at the department. They take part in annual scientific conferences and students competitions.
The graduates of the university majoring in this field can work in project organizations, local state administrations, state road inspections of Ministry of the Internal Affairs of Ukraine (officers) and other organs of state control in transport, and also in structural subdivisions of different enterprises which are responsible for road traffic safety.

Ukraine’s economy transition to the market relations makes demands to the transport complex, with demands being closely connected with information support of production and management at all levels. Introduction of the modern management control systems into multifunctional objects of management such as enterprises, organizations and establishments of a transport complex leads to development of perspective projects which are supposed to implement latest achievements in management that use computer and information technologies.
Specialists in Information Management Systems and Technologies can design, introduce and maintain computer technologies and information systems at enterprises and organizations of the transport complex and different industries of Ukraine. Modern information technologies are extremely important for the transport control management centers, the satellite systems of navigation, vehicle diagnostics systems, automated spare parts warehouses, automated ticket sales and dispensing systems.
The graduating department is the Department of Information Systems and Technologies. The well qualified lecturers, Doctors and Candidates of Sciences work at the department. The employees of the department have great experience in the development of information systems in transport and their introduction in many cities of Ukraine. The department has computer classes with multimedia facilities that are connected to NTU integrated network and have access to the Internet as well.

The expansion of international cooperation, steady contacts with foreign partners, the increasing stream of tourists from the countries of Western and Central Europe require professional communication during business negotiations, high quality translation of technical and economic documents, which predetermines demand for specialists in translation, who would be fluent in foreign languages and promote relations with partners, foreign investors and enterprises in the transport complex, providing support and defense of Ukrainian interests.
In 2009 National Transport University started preparation of translators for the transportation and road complex of Ukraine. The graduating department is the Department of Foreign Languages. The academic staff of the department has a high level of theoretical preparation and considerable experience of the practical teaching of foreign languages in technical higher educational institutions.
During their studies students will get fundamental general theoretical preparation in Ukrainian, English and German languages. Professional preparation of students is based on the study of professionally oriented disciplines. During the first two years students will study different aspects of the language: phonetic course, practical course and grammar course of two foreign languages. During the second year the fundamental linguistic disciplines will be added, such as Terminology of a Foreign Language (English/German), Practical Translation (Verbal and Written) from a Basic Foreign Language, Stylistics of a Foreign Language, History of the Language, Comparative Lexicology, Comparative Grammar of the English and Ukrainian Languages. Students will study Techniques and Methods of Translation in the field of Economics, Management and Law, Automatic Translation Software; Fundamentals of International Road Transportation; Fundamentals of Customs Control; Fundamentals of Traffic Engineering. Senior students can study Teaching Methods of a Foreign Language which will enable them to work as the teachers of foreign languages in secondary schools.
After graduation students will get the qualification of a translator- consultant who can be engaged in written and verbal communication; English-German-Ukrainian translation of the texts that are different in content and genre.
Graduates can work at transport enterprises and organizations, research institutes, institutions of Ministry of Transport and Communications of Ukraine. They can work as a translator, a guide-translator, a translator of scientific and technical literature, an editor-translator and a consultant in other establishments.

Integration of Ukraine into the world society and entry to World Treaty Organization require solution of a broad spectrum of economic problems related to the infrastructure of world market economy and, first of all, to its material and technical resources the important constituent of which is transport. For this purpose skilled and competent specialists are necessary.
That is why in 2009 NTU started preparation of specialists in International Economy, who will be able to accomplish administrative, managerial and analytical work in order to develop and promote international economic activity in the field of business, education, science, state administration, finances, banking and international economic relations.
The graduating department is the Department of Economics. Among the academic staff of the department there are doctors of sciences and candidates of sciences, professors and associate professors with foreign practical experience, the leading specialists of the transport industry of Ukraine. The academic staff of the department has the required educational background and experience of practical work.
The lecturers will teach students taking into account their experience, specialization, interests and key research areas. Part-time lecturers are leading specialists of enterprises, control management organizations. The department is successfully integrated in the European system of education on principles of Bologna declaration.
Level of specialists’ preparation meets modern requirements. Preparation is based on deep studying of Economic Sciences, Enterprise Economy, International Economy, International Management and Marketing, International Finance. Since transport is of great importance for any enterprise recently there has been a huge demand for highly skilled specialists in transport management. Therefore since 1995 the University has trained specialists in Organizational Management, Transport Management and Logistics, Management in Service Center Systems using the educational experience of the previous years.
The graduating department is the Department of Management. Among the academic staff of the department there are doctors of sciences and candidates of sciences, professors and associate professors with foreign practical experience, the leading specialists of the transport industry of Ukraine. The department has a computer classroom with the computers being connected to local computer network.
Students study fundamental and professional-oriented disciplines. These disciplines are necessary to help a manager to be good at transport management, service center systems auto service and repair stations. To reach high level of learning various forms of teaching such as lectures, seminars, practical and laboratory works, testing, business games are used. Students are involved in research work under the supervision of academic staff. The best works of students which have scientific value are discussed at annual scientific conferences.

Logistics is a science which is developing rapidly all over the world. Logistics is the management of the flow of goods, information and other resources, including energy and people, between the point of origin and the point of consumption in order to meet the requirements of consumers. Logistics involves the integration of information, transportation, and inventory, warehousing, material-handling, and packaging. Logistics is a channel of the supply chain which adds the value of time and place utility. Today the complexity of production logistics can be modeled, analyzed, visualized and optimized by plant simulation software
Development of Ukrainian transport complex , integration into the European and international structures , expansion of terminal, container, multimodal transportation require logistical approaches to coordination of different transport modes and interaction of all participants of the foreign trade activity when organizing intermodal transportation and developing forwarding services .It results in great demand for specialists in logistics.
The graduating department is the Department of Transport Law, System Analysis and Logistics. The majority of teaching staff is doctors and candidates of sciences, professors or senior lecturers. The department carries out research in freight transportation, forwarding services, management and coordination of transport modes .

Legal support for law enforcement machinery and enforcement bodies in transport is connected with examination of legal cases, realization of legal activity, simultaneously; it requires specialists with a proper qualification.
Training of specialists in Legal Science (with a specialization in Transport Law) has been carried out at NTU since 1998.
The graduating departments are the Department of Constitutional and Administrative Law and the Department of Transport Law, System Analysis and Logistics .The teaching staff is well qualified lawyers with practical experience. Academicians, Doctors of Law, Professors, and Honored Lawyers of Ukraine work at the departments. The departments are provided with four specialized laboratories, equipped with modern computing facilities to improve educational process.
Future lawyers have a good chance to have practice in such establishments as the Vekhovna Rada of Ukraine, Constitutional and Arbitration Courts of Ukraine , district courts, research institutes of legal expertise, Ministry of Transport and Communications of Ukraine etc.
Taking into account requirements of labour market it is obvious that NTU graduates can work in legal departments of transport companies as well as judges, public prosecutors, judge assistants, public registrars, notaries, legal advisers, human resources managers, employment inspector, social inspector etc.
Today it is necessary to have qualified and competent specialists in tourism industry who are able to develop new technologies , new tourist services, to define social and ecological consequences of their introduction on the basis of the analysis of market tendencies, protective restrictions and changes in both macro- and micro –environment and environmental ecology , to make technological maps, to cooperate with financial institutions , insurance companies, to organize, to supervise and to analyze the result.
Nowadays the labor market in tourism industry is facing the problem of personnel shortage: in travel agencies the lack of middle managers amounts to 50 % and the lack of top managers - to 80-90%, respectively. Institutes and Universities graduate 20,000 young specialists annually but it not sufficient
In 2009 the University started the preparation of specialists in a new promising specialism “Tourism”, which is oriented to the improvement of Ukrainian tourist service and its integration into the world economy system .
The graduating department is the Department of Management.
The department was founded in 1976 under the name of “Organization and Management”. Doctors of science and candidates of science, leading specialists of transport industry work here. Scientific schools established at the department
are successful and well-known both in Ukraine and abroad. Academic process is carried out in accordance with the Bologna Declaration principles which have defined approaches to creation of Single Higher Education Space and credit modular system of higher education. The disciplines which are necessary for organization of tourism company activity are the following: Marketing and Tourism, Management and Tourism, Organization of Tourism, Organization of Trips, Legal Issues and Tourism, Tourism Technologies, Tourism Economy and Pricing, Tourism Company Activity Analysis, Accounting and Tourism. Junior students will study subjects related to history, culture and arts: History of Ukraine, Culturology, Religious Studies, Tourism and Recreation Country Study. Throughout their educational experiences students will acquire and master skills in working out of tours and excursions(routes, hotels, transport services, excursion program), preparation of commercial offers and conducting negotiation, tourist documents preparation ( calculation, preparation of information material, documents such as: vouchers, tickets , tour programs, insurance policies ) ,selling of tourism products, documents handling(applications, insurance policies etc).
Students will be taught to avoid conflict situations. A third of educational time will be devoted to psychological trainings and role games
