There is NTU Education and Consulting Centre in Lviv, which has functioned since August 2000 as a subdivision of National Transport University aimed at training of well- ńěčňüá632.0ualified specialists in transport and transport manageme4 t, transport law, and customs control in transport. |
Necessity in training of transport engineers arose in connection with the intensification of Ukrainian foreign economic relations, organizing and constant increasing of checkpoints number, opening new transport corridors and developing of the already existing ones.

Graduates of secondary schools, technical schools and colleges who have already received a qualification of a junior specialist in motor-transport, study at Education and Consulting Centre. Students, who have graduated from the higher educational establishments of the first-second level of accreditation, are trained according to integrated curricula.
In order to realize leveled concept of education there is “Transport Technologies” Manufacturing Center at Education and Consulting Centre.
Structural subdivisions of NTU, technical schools, and motor-transport colleges of Ukrainian western region such as: Nadvirnyanskiy College, Gusyatyn College, Lviv Motor-Car and Road Construction Technical School, Rivno Motor-Transport Technical School, Novo-Rozdil Polytechnical School, Lviv Ecological Technical School, Chernivtsi Railroad Transport Technical School; Road Police Administration of Lviv Region, International Road Hauliers Association in Ukraine, Regional Research Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Western Scientific Centre of the Transport Academy of Ukraine and other organizations and companies came into the structure of this complex.
The objectives of the Complex are the following: coordination of common activity of higher educational establishments of the first-second level of accreditation, institutions, associations, administrations as to realization of Ukrainian Act “On Education”, implementation of leveled system of transport specialists training according to through curricula and programs, making effective use of the teaching staff; educational-laboratory and production base and social infrastructure, organization of refreshing courses for the lecturers of the educational establishments, workers and others groups of people; coordination of research work in transport and development and implementation of modern technologies, scientific staff training, development of education and methodology maintenance.
In 2006-2007 academic year more than 850 students studied at Education and Consulting Centre, 210 of them were trained according to integrated curricula. There are Pre-University courses, where students can deepen their knowledge in subjects which are necessary to enter the University.
The Pre-University courses have been organized in Zakarpattya, Lviv and Novy Rosdil in Lviv region; a new subdivision in Chernivtsi has been founded. A specialized lyceum class for senior pupils of Lviv school number 19 .has been organized
Students are taught by well qualified lecturers, with 75% of them having academic degrees of doctors or candidates of science, academic ranks of professors and associate professors
There are 10 professors, doctors of science, 28 associate professors, candidates of science,and senior lecturers. Among the professors it is necessary to note the scientists who are known not only in Ukraine, but also abroad. They are: Doctor of Science, Professor I. Bolesta – specialist in solid state physics and radio physics, Doctor of Economics, Professor E. Krykavsky, an outstanding authority in logistics; Doctor of Science, Professor I. Kernytsky, a specialist in pneumatic cushioning of vehicles; Doctor of Science, Professor E. Fornalchyk, a specialist in vehicles safety; Doctor of Science, Professor A. Obshta , a specialist in information measuring technologies in non-destructive material control; Doctor of Science, Professor G. Gudz, a famous specialist in simulation of heat exchange processes in braking systems of vehicles.
Students have an opportunity to improve their knowledge, working in computerized laboratories and using the Internet. As to its structure, proceeding from the needs of educational process, the Centre is divided into four subdivisions. They are: humanitarian, fundamental and general engineering, economics and customs control; and special. There is an education and methodology consulting-room, where methodology instructions, tests, course papers and projects in all specializms are concentrated. There is a risograph to issue education and methodology literature.
The library of the Centre regularly receives catalogues of different publishing houses and book – selling firms, which allow to renew constantly library’s funds with latest education and methodology literature, new specialist editions, and periodicals.
In July, 2006 there was a regular bachelor’s graduation in transport technologies specializm. After completion of theoretical studies and practical work at motor transport enterprises, students defended their diploma projects in order to get their diplomas of a specialist.
Steady business contacts are established with the teaching staff of the basic University. Prominent lecturers of the university are asked to deliver lectures in separate subjects, to supervise diploma projects, and to take part in the work of State Examination Commissions.
Business relations are established with the Institute of Transport Economics and Business and its director - Professor M. Khmelevsky, the Institute of Correspondence Education and Distance Learning which is led by Professor S. Andrusenko,the Institute of Pre-University Training and International Cooperation, ( Director, Dr. E Mahmudov), the Department of Transport Systems and Marketing ( Head of Department, Professor L. Jatskivsky), International Education Centre for Information Technologies under the guidance of Dr. V. Lyaskivsky, who helps the center establish and develop distance learning system.
All lecturers take part in education work and research.
In 2006 the lecturers themselves or in co-authorship published 8 manuals, 38 scientific articles, participated in international, all-Ukrainian, and the university conferences24 times.
